To get the current release of Responsive Time Logger you will need to download and re-install Responsive Time Logger by following these directions.

  1. Click the button above to download the FREE Trail (Demo) version of Responsive Time Logger (setuptimelogger.exe).
  2. Run setuptimelogger.exe and install Responsive Time Logger into the same folder (by default: "C:\Program Files\TimeLog")
    • You will not need to re-enter your Registration Code.
    • Your data and settings will remain the same.
    • If you use the Palm Interface, check the box to install it on the "Select Components" window.
  3. Start Responsive Time Logger and verify you have the new version by selecting menu option "Help" then "About Time Logger."
    • If you use the Palm Interface, select "START->All Program Files->Responsive Time Logger->Install Time Logger to the Handheld" and then perform a HotSync and verify that you have the new version by tapping "Options" and then "About..."

Network Re-Installation Directions

These directions are for re-installing the latest release of Responsive Time Logger onto a network where Responsive Time Logger is already installed and working for all users. For directions on installing Responsive Time Logger to a network for the first time, please click here.

Option 1: Responsive Time Logger on Network Server Only

If you have one central copy of Responsive Time Logger installed on a network server and all users connect to that central copy (meaning you only ran setuptimelogger.exe once and then ran setupuser.exe on each user's workstation), then you only need to download and run setuptimelogger.exe once* and re-install it to that server's folder. You will need the appropriate Administrator rights to perform the installation. You will not need to re-enter your registration information (Registration Code, License Number and Company Code) if you currently own your network license and you re-install into the exact same folder.

*NOTE: If you are upgrading from version 4.03.17 (the most recent release prior to the current one) you will not need to re-run setupuser.exe on each workstation. Otherwise, if you are upgrading from any version 4 that is older than 4.03.17, then you will need to re-run setupuser.exe on each workstation by following the directions below:

Step 1 only needs to be done once.

  1. Click to download setupuser.exe and save it to the same network folder where Responsive Time Logger is installed.

    All of the following steps are done at each user's workstation.

  2. Determine the exact spelling of the user name used in the shortcut to start Responsive Time Logger, which you will need when you run setupuser.exe.
    • TIP: Select either the desktop icon or the START menu option that the user uses to start Time Logger.
    • Right-click and view its Properties.
    • Select and copy the user's name in the shortcut Target. For example, if the shortcut Target has ...\TimeLog.exe /User "MyName" in it, then everything inside the quotes MyName needs to be selected and copied.)
  3. Navigate to the network folder where setupuser.exe is located and run it.
  4. On the 3rd screen "Choices" of the setupuser.exe installation program:
    • Type the user's name in the Name: field (or paste the user name from step #2 above)
    • select the first radio button: "This user will run Time Logger... from the network drive."
    • check the option "Add a shortcut to Time Logger to the user's desktop" to use the existing shortcut.
  5. Finish setupuser.exe and start Responsive Time Logger using the shortcut on the user's desktop and verify the user is running the new version.

NOTE: If anyone starts Time Logger using a shortcut with a user name in the Target .../User "MyName" that is new and unique (such as an incorrectly spelled user name), Time Logger will automatically add that new user name into the list of users. This can erroneously reduce your number of available user licenses. To rectify the situation, delete the extra users in Tools->Global Options->Other AND delete the erroneous desktop shortcut icon AND delete the erroneous START menu option (START->Responsive Time Logger->Responsive Time Logger for MyName).

Option 2: Responsive Time Logger on Network Server and Users' Workstations

If you installed one central copy of Responsive Time Logger on a network server where your central Time Records database file is located and installed a copy of Responsive Time Logger locally on each user's computer/workstation (meaning you ran setuptimelogger.exe once on the network and then ran setuptimelogger.exe and setupuser.exe on each user's workstation/computer), then follow these steps below. Note that for all of these steps, you will need to have the appropriate Administrator rights. Also, you will not need to re-enter your registration information (Registration Code, License Number and Company Code) if you currently own your network license and you re-install into the exact same folder.

  1. Run setuptimelogger.exe on the server and install it to the same network folder where your your central Time Records database file and supporting folders are located.
  2. Run setuptimelogger.exe on each user's workstation and install it to the exact same folder where Responsive Time Logger is currently installed.

NOTE: If you are upgrading from version 4.03.17 (the most recent release prior to the current one) you will not need to re-run setupuser.exe on each workstation. Otherwise, if you are upgrading from any version 4 that is older than 4.03.17, then you will need to re-run setupuser.exe on each workstation by following the directions below:

  6. Finish setupuser.exe and start Responsive Time Logger using the shortcut on the user's desktop and verify the user is running the new version.

NOTE: If anyone starts Time Logger using a shortcut with a user name in the Target .../User "MyName" that is new and unique (such as an incorrectly spelled user name), Time Logger will automatically add that new user name into the list of users. Palm: To find the version number of Responsive Time Logger on your Palm Handheld, start Responsive Time Logger and tap "Options" followed by "About..."
