Besides having an intuitive and easy to use interface, Time Logger has six ways to get help you get started:

Power-User Advanced Features

There are also some powerful features available for you power users.  For example, if you know what SQL is, you'll be happy to hear that you can use SQL commands to filter or sort the time record database.   You can even perform calculations on the time record data.

Time Logger's most advanced feature is it VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) macro language.  With it, you can write a Visual Basic program to control Time Logger and other applications.  For example, you could write a macro that compiles time record data, then opens Excel and summarizes that data with a pie chart!  

Descriptors Categorize Records by Client, Project, Etc.

In order to effectively manage your Time Records, Time Logger utilizes a unique feature call "Descriptors." Descriptors enforce consistency in the Time Records database, prevent typos or misspellings and also enable simple, accurate and robust Time Record filtering, sorting and reporting.

There are ten Descriptors saved with each Time Record, though only a handful of them are required to be filled in. The ten Descriptors are Person, Client, Project, Subproject, Activity, Other, Rate, Internal Rate, Tax Rate and Mileage Rate. Descriptors are selected for each Time Record using a drop-down list box as shown below. You can allow your Descriptors to be changed while you add Time Records or you can lock your Descriptors and only allow them to be changed by an administrator.

Project Descriptor

Time Logger has features that allow you to instantly populate all of your Descriptors with just a couple mouse clicks, called Memorized Descriptors. It also allows you to hierarchically link your Descriptors so that when a certain one is selected (a parent Descriptor), only those related to that Descriptor (the child Descriptors) are displayed. The magic of Descriptors is that they server to enforce.
